Julie
Cooper
I am a Licensed Master’s-level Social Worker with 19 years of experience in the field. I completed my undergraduate studies with a focus on psychology in 2004, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2006. Over the years, I’ve provided therapeutic services to individuals, families, children, and couples across various settings. My work has ranged from offering emotional and behavioral support to parents and children in residential and school environments to transitioning into private practice as both a therapist and clinical supervisor.
I firmly believe that a therapeutic space conducive to healing and growth is built on the foundation of a strong, trusting relationship between therapist and client. This connection—grounded in mutual respect and understanding—helps us navigate the complexities life often presents.
As humans, we have an innate ability to grow, adapt, and elevate ourselves—especially when we’re supported, motivated, and willing to put in the work. Along the way, we sometimes develop patterns or coping mechanisms that once served us but no longer support our well-being. In these moments, having someone walk beside us can offer the guidance we need to get “unstuck” and move forward on our journey.
I practice with a trauma-informed approach and utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities, such as Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, the Gottman Method, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and somatic and mindfulness-based practices.
Clients accepted: adults, children ages 12+, families and couples.
I specialize in:
-
Relationships
Together, we’ll explore the patterns that shape your relationships by examining attachment styles, strengthening communication skills, and deepening your relationship with yourself. By understanding how early attachment influences adult connections, we can work toward more secure and fulfilling relationships while building communication tools that foster respect, empathy, and trust. Therapy provides a safe space to explore emotions, set boundaries, and gain clarity around your needs and desires, helping you develop practical strategies that support healthier relationships with others and a more compassionate, connected relationship with yourself.
-
Trauma
Trauma impacts both the mind and body, often showing up as physical tension, chronic pain, or emotional blocks. Through a mind-body approach, we work together to understand how past experiences shape your present, helping you recognize and release limiting beliefs while addressing both emotional and physical effects of trauma. In a safe, supportive space, you’ll reconnect with your authentic self, build resilience, and let go of old patterns—creating a path toward lasting healing, greater peace, and meaningful growth.
-
Anxiety & Depression
I help you manage anxiety and depression by addressing the root causes of emotional distress while building practical tools for lasting change. Together, we’ll develop supportive routines, strengthen coping strategies, and build resilience by learning to detach from intrusive thoughts, challenge negative patterns, and shift self-destructive behaviors into healthier responses. In a compassionate, nonjudgmental space, you’ll explore your emotions, improve emotional regulation, and cultivate self-compassion—helping you regain a greater sense of balance and control in your life.
